Nico Nibbering Awards
Prof. Nibbering was a passionate advocate for young scientists and supported the education and career-development of mass spectrometrists from many countries around the world through his mentorship and the delivery of education and workshop programs.
The Nico Nibbering Student Travel Awards serve to honor his many contributions to international mass spectrometry and build on his legacy of supporting young scientists in this field.
This call is now open and the deadline for submission is May 1st 2024.

student registration award
This award provides Complimentary Conference. Registration to a select number of student applicants who meet the guidelines outlined below:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Ph.D or other equivalent higher degree program, and have not received a Ph.D or other equivalent higher degree at the time of the conference start date
- Applicants must be registered to attend the Conference by Friday 17 May
- Applicants must have also submitted an abstract by Friday 17 May
- A limit of up to two applicants per research group may apply
Applicants will be notified of acceptance end of May 2024. * Where applicable, successful applicants will have their conference registrations refunded. ** Students may apply for both a Student Registration award and Student Volunteer stipend
EMERGING COUNTRY RESEARCHER
TRAVEL AWARD
This award provides Travel Support of AUD$1,250 plus complimentary conference registration and a complimentary conference dinner ticket to a select number of applicants who meet the guidelines outlined below:
- Applicants must be from an Emerging Country (list provided on contact page of registration portal)
- Applicants must be registered to attend the Conference by Friday 17 May
- Applicants must have also submitted an abstract by Friday 17 May
Applicants will be notified of acceptance end of May 2024.
* Where applicable, successful applicants will have their conference registrations refunded.
POSTDOC/EARLY CAREER RESEARCHER TRAVEL AWARD
This award provides Travel Support of AUD$1,000 to a select number of applicants who meet the guidelines outlined below:
- Applicants must not be more than 3 years following the awarding of their Ph.D at the time of the Conference start date
- Applicants must be employed as a post-doc in an academic institution at the time of the Conference start date
- Applicants must be registered to attend the Conference by Friday 17 May
- Applicants must also have submitted an abstract by Friday 17 May
- A limit of up to one applicant per research group may apply
Applicants will be notified of acceptance end of May 2024.
* Where applicable, successful applicants will have their conference registrations refunded.
STUDENT VOLUNTEER STIPEND
This Grant provides a stipend of AUD$250 to a select number of applicants who meet the guidelines outlined below:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Ph.D or other equivalent higher degree program, and have not received a Ph.D or other equivalent higher degree at the time of the conference start date
- Applicants must be available to assist for a 4-hour block of time at either the registration desk, or in oral sessions
- Applicants must be registered to attend the Conference by Friday 17 May
- Applicants must also have submitted an abstract by Friday 17 May
- A limit of up to one applicant per research group may apply
Applicants will be notified of acceptance end of May 2024.
